First residential building in Asturias BREEAM® certified: A milestone of sustainability and excellence.
ZEROCEM has had the privilege of participating in this new residential project located on the central La Muralla street in Gijón. This rehabilitation project, promoted by Grupo Tectum, will offer 6 homes for rent, storage rooms and parking spaces for motorcycles and bicycles.
We can say that this project is at the forefront of sustainability and energy savings, as it was the first residential building in the region to receive the prestigious BREEAM® seal. After the evaluation of the indicators of management, health and well-being, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, land use and ecology, pollution and innovation, the building has been rated VERY GOOD, placing it among the most efficient in Spain of its kind.
What is the process to follow in this type of projects?
The process to follow in this type of construction begins with a strategic definition of the project, where the objectives are defined and its viability is established. The client’s needs continue to be specified, which are included in a preliminary evaluation report. In this phase of the project, the collaboration of the architecture studio Valle Arquitectura, the project manager and the trust of the promoters was of vital importance.
Once construction is completed, project delivery takes place. Final inspections are carried out and ensure that the building meets all specified requirements and standards. Post delivery, the performance of the building in use is evaluated, ensuring that it meets standards and optimal performance.
More and more constructions want to join sustainability, demonstrating the growing concern and commitment of the sector for a world with more efficient buildings, respectful of the environment and oriented towards the well-being of its inhabitants. And this movement not only responds to an urgent need to reduce environmental impact, but also establishes new standards of quality and comfort in housing.
All those residents and tenants who have the privilege of residing in this building will enjoy a home that not only meets the highest energy efficiency standards, but also promotes a healthier and more sustainable life. This project is an example of how sustainability can be integrated into daily life, improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.

And not very good for those of us who have shaped it; very good for its owners and for the tenants who have the pleasure of living there. It goes for you
